Athletic Training Shadow Experience
Would you like to experience all that Certified Athletic Trainers do first-hand? The Waynesburg University Athletic Training Faculty has created an experience for all students interested in the Athletic Training Profession. We feel that it is very important for each student to see first hand what they will experience as part of an athletic training program. Contact the Athletic Training Department to schedule your visit and let the Athletic Training Faculty help you decide if this allied health profession is for you. Ask for Nathan Wilder, Head Athletic Trainer at 1-800-225-7393 when you call.

What to Consider When Scheduling a Shadow Experience

Experiences will vary depending on the date you choose to visit campus.  During the week classes are in session and available for you to sit in on.

Our classes are scheduled during the morning hours.  If you would like to be part of a class, arriving to campus early should be a priority.

Clinical experiences in the athletic training room take place in the early to late afternoon.  Our students at the junior/senior level are required to spend 15-20 hours a week in the athletic training room.  To see athletic training students in action, prospective students are encouraged to spend the afternoon with the athletic training staff and students in our rehab facility.

Athletic events during the fall sports season (football) take place on saturdays. If you would like to experience providing medical coverage from the sideline of a varsity football game, please take into consideration the following dates below. This shadow experience with football will give each student a comprehensive look at what a typical home event day would look like. There will also be ample opportunities for the students to participate in learning activities.

Also, the student has the possibility to stay overnight with one of our students. Prospective students can choose to come to campus on friday afternoon or evening in order to be on campus for a Saturday football game. The dates below are available for students to sign up, so call today. Spaces are limited and are reserved on a first come first serve basis.
