Nathan Wilder, Head Athletic Trainer joined the Waynesburg University Athletic Training Staff in the Fall of 2004, after spedining 4 and a half years as an Assistant Professor/Assistant Athletic Trainer at Southern Connecticut State University. He holds credentials as a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) and as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Nathan grew up in Pittsburgh, Pa and attended Waynesburg University. He graduated suma cum laude from Waynesburg University, Waynesburg, PA in 1996. Following his undergraduate education, Nathan spent one year working with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center as the Head Athletic Trainer at Sto-Rox High School before moving on to continue his education. Nathan was named the Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at Ohio University where he spent two years working with the Division I football program and helping Dr. Ray Tesner (Grant Sports Medicine) as an orthopedic associate. Nathan graduated suma cum laude from Ohio University in June of 1999 with a 4.0 GPA. Following two years at Ohio, Nathan went on to work in the NFL as an Athletic Trainer with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Nathan assisted the full time Buccaneer Atheltic Training staff for one year prior to accepting his position at Southern Connecticut State University. Nathan is an experienced and well-rounded athletic training clinician who oversees the injury prevention, care and rehabilitation of Waynesburg athletes on the football, wrestling, and track & field teams. Besides covering these teams, Nathan works closely with Athletic Training Students as an ACI (Approved Clinical Instructor) in the athletic training education program.
Nathan's most significant achievement is when he was awarded the National Athletic Training Association's out standing student scholarship in 1996 and in 1998.
Nathan is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers Associations, Eastern Athletic Trainers Association, and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. In addition, he serves his profession by sitting on the Web Masters Advisor Board for District 2. With these duties Nathan helps other states and programs with web page advisement. Nathan has also published two articles relating to the use of creatine in football players.
Nathan is married to Nicole Wilder. They live in Washington, PA. An avid sports enthusiast, Nathan enjoys weight training, running, and hockey, technology, and photography. He also dabbles in Computers (specifically web page development)
