Almeida to be published in Currents in Electronic Literacy, present at One-to-One Computing Conference
Luis Almeida, assistant professor of communication at Waynesburg University, will be published in the spring 2010 edition of the Currents in Electronic Literacy journal. Published by the University of Texas at Austin, the spring issue focuses on Gaming Across the Curriculum: Playing as a Way of Learning.
Almeida’s article is titled, “Game Making and Playing as a Way of Learning.”
"Having my article published is really exciting,” he said. “It is amazing how the fields of multimedia communication and English are merging."
Almeida will also present at the Sixth Annual One-to-One Computing Conference held at Pennsylvania State University, April 20. His presentation is titled “BRAVO! Classroom Games Made Easy.”
The annual conference is held to connect current and future leaders of one-to-one educational computing environments, and to improve both the quality of education they offer and the quality of data they produce. The regional conference draws leaders and educators from all over the country. Keynote sessions, concurrent sessions and informal conversations will focus on understanding, implementing and enhancing the educational value of one-to-one computing.
Almeida joined the Department of Communication at Waynesburg University in the fall of 2008 and teaches courses in digital illustration, creativity theory, communication theory and multimedia. Almeida has a Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University, a Master of Science degree from Clarion University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Slippery Rock University.
