Education honorary inducts thirty-three
Thirty-three new members were recently inducted into Kappa Delta Pi, the education honorary at Waynesburg University. Kappa Delta Pi is an international honor society that recognizes students for scholarly achievment, commitment to excellence and dedication to a career in education.
Dr. Diane Woodrum, professor of education and chair of the Department of Education at Waynesburg University, serves as the faculty advisor for the Waynesburg chapter. The chapter was installed in 2002. The thirty-three new members joined 24 existing members.
The inductees include:
• Sarah Baldwin, a junior elementary/special education major from Clairton (Thomas Jefferson High School)
• Stephanie Ball, a freshman early childhood education major with special education certificate from McKees Rocks (Montour High School)
• Shannon Bartley, a freshman early childhood education major with special education certificate from Parker (Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School)
• Darartu Boyer, a freshman early childhood education major from Willow Street (Penn Manor High School)
• Leah Bujaky, a freshman early childhood education major from Gibsonia (Hampton High School)
• Alison Busby, a sophomore elementary/special education major from Columbia (Columbia Junior-Senior High School)
• Lacey Byble, a freshman early childhood education major from Connellsville (Connellsville Area Senior High)
• Karyn Chojnicki, a freshman early childhood education major with special education certificate from Spraggs (Waynesburg Central High School)
• Melody Cox, a sophomore English/secondary education (creative writing) major from Waynesburg (Jefferson Morgan High School)
• Jaclyn Colquhoun, a freshman early childhood education major with special education certificate from Hermitage (Hickory High School)
• Bethany Danaher, a junior elementary education major from Steubenville, Ohio (Jefferson County Christian School)
• Leeann Danley, a sophomore elementary/special education major from West Finley (McGuffey High School)

Kappa Delta Pi officers include Sara Phillips (president), Melissa Fox (vice president), Heather Flower (secretary), Nicole Morrow (secretary), Jennifer Brockman (treasurer), Rachel Tobias (fundraising), Catherine Wysochanski (fundraising), Mara Colamartino (historian) and Emily Breese (historian).
Founded in 1849 by the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Waynesburg University is located on a traditional campus in the hills of southwestern Pennsylvania, with three adult centers located in the Pittsburgh region.
