Lambda Pi Eta inducts eight

Eight students were inducted into the Upsilon Lambda Chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, the communication honor society at Waynesburg University, Sunday, April 12. The induction ceremony was held in Alumni Hall on the campus of Waynesburg University.

Membership in Lamda Pi Eta is open to qualified undergraduate students who have declared an interest in the field of communication and have achieved a high level of academic excellence.

To be eligible for membership, a student must have completed 60 semester hours of undergraduate credit courses including 12 credit hours in communication courses, have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.25 and have a GPA of 3.4 in their communication courses. Students must also be in good standing with the University and dedicated to and involved within the Department of Communication.

In 1994, the National Communication Association established Lambda Pi Eta as the official national communication honor society for undergraduates and was inducted into the Association of College Honor Societies in 1996. There are currently over 400 chapters worldwide.

Lambda Pi Eta recognizes, fosters and rewards scholastic achievement and stimulates interest in the field of communication. The honorary promotes professional development.

• Rachel Brown, a junior communication (journalism) major from Schnecksville, Pa. (Parkland High School)
• Natalie Bruzda, a junior communication (electronic media) major from Greensburg, Pa. (Greensburg-Salem High School)
• Victoria Kamicker, a junior public relations major from Enon Valley (Mohawk Area Junior-Senior High School)
• Emile Khoury, a junior communication (sports broadcasting/sports information) from Du Bois, Pa. (Dubois Area High School)
• Steven Moore, a senior communication (electronic media) major from Jeannette, Pa. (Penn-Trafford High School)
• Sierra Shafer, a junior communication (journalism) major from Estes Park, Colo. (Estes Park High School)
• Sarah Spicuzza, a junior communication (public relations) major from Bethel Park, Pa. (Bethel Park High School)
• Rachel Storm, a junior public relations major from New Waterford, Ohio (Crestview High School)

Founded in 1849 by the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Waynesburg University is located on a traditional campus in the hills of southwestern Pennsylvania, with three adult centers located in the Pittsburgh region.
