University offers students additional study abroad opportunity
Waynesburg University recently acquired a valuable partnership with Waikato University located on the south Pacific Rim in New Zealand. The partnership will afford Waynesburg University students the opportunity to study abroad while paying home tuition fees.
The partnership was recently finalized and will remain active for a five-year period. Waikato University offers two unique campuses located in in Hamilton City (Waikato region) and Tauranga City (Bay of Plenty region).
Students participating in the study abroad program typically study four classes per semester in Waikato University’s seven academic schools. The schools include School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences; School of Management; School of Law; School of Maori and Pacific Development; School of Education; School of Arts and Sciences; and School of Science and Engineering.
“This partnership allows students to continue their education while learning about the people of New Zealand and its culture. It is a wonderful opportunity for our students,” said Dr. Robert Graham, Waynesburg University Provost.
The study abroad program is open to undergraduate and graduate students, and offers international student support and an orientation program.
Sut Sakchutchawan, associate professor of international business and director of international studies at Waynesburg University, was a vital part of the process to obtain the partnership.
“The partnership will offer Waynesburg University students additional choices and opportunities,” Sakchutchawan said. “This is another way Waynesburg University can prepare its students for success in an increasing global world.”
An informational workshop will be held in the fall. For more information on courses and culture at Waikato University, visit www.waikato.ac.nz.
