Exhibit to display spring semester’s best
The Spring Semester Student Art Exhibition will be held Monday, April 19 through Friday, April 30, in the Benedum Fine Arts Gallery. The exhibit showcases the best student work produced in the studio art courses during the spring semester. Admission is free and the public is cordially invited to attend.
The displayed work will be that of art and non-art majors. Approximately 100 pieces will be featured including ceramics, drawings, paintings, sculptures and two- and three- dimensional media.
“I am impressed by the quality of art we have to choose from this semester,” said Susan Phillips, gallery director, professor of art and Chair of the Department of Fine Arts at Waynesburg University. “Although many of the selected items represent the work of non-art majors, you can tell that all of our students take great pride in their work and strive to produce high-caliber pieces.”
Pieces are selected by individual art faculty members based on the best representations of the assignments in their respective classes. Those pieces are then viewed by the art faculty as a whole to determine which pieces will be exhibited in the show.
Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, or by appointment. For more information, contact Susan Phillips at 724-852-3274.
