TPS Program to present “American Innovators”
The Teaching with Primary Sources (TPS) Program at Waynesburg University will host a Library of Congress workshop for teachers and librarians in the tri-county area. The workshop, “American Innovators” will run Monday, June 21 through Thursday, June 24, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., each day. The workshop is free, however, sessions are limited and registration is required.
The four-day, hands-on 2010 Summer Institute professional development program, “American Innovators,” focuses on the educational use of primary source materials from the Library of Congress. Participants will earn 24 PDE Act 48 continuing education activity hours. This is an entry-level course.
Lunch will be provided compliments of the TPS program.
Tentative Agenda:
Day one of the four-session professional development workshop will introduce teachers and librarians to the Library of Congress online digital resources.
Day two will provide the opportunity to locate Library of Congress primary source materials relevant to local curriculum and provide the foundation for using primary sources effectively in the classroom.
Day three will focus on using primary source materials of all types to throughout the inquiry process and across the curriculum.
Day four delves deeper into the inquiry process and participants will investigate artifacts as primary source learning material.
