The Theatre Program at Waynesburg University will present “Christmas Belles,” Friday, June 22, and Saturday, June 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the Goodwin Performing Arts Center on the University’s main campus.
“Christmas Belles” tells the story of a church Christmas program that spins hilariously out of control and includes squabbling sisters, family secrets, a surly Santa, a vengeful sheep and a reluctant Elvis impersonator.
The play is the sequel to “Dearly Beloved,” which was presented last summer by Waynesburg’s Theatre Program, and includes the return of the main characters, the three Futrelle sisters.
“These characters were so much fun last summer that I thought it might be fun to revisit them,” said Edward L. Powers, professor of theatre and director of the Theatre Program. “And seeing a little bit of Christmas in the summer might also be cute and clever.”
Returning in their roles from “Dearly Beloved” are Sable Griedel as Honey Raye, Laura Gonella as Frankie, Tome Custer as Twink, Jordan Thompson as Dub, Dan Wozniak as John Curtis, Emily Haywood as Gina Jo and Ben Zyra as Justin. Michelle Scheponik will appear as Miss Geneva with Claire Kreider as Patsy. Ellen Weekly will join the cast as Rhonda Lynn, as well as Christian Wilson as Raynerd Chisum.
