Leipold advances digital forensics and ECPI course availability
In 2006, Waynesburg University received a $500,000 grant from the United States Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Administration. Through this grant, WU was able to research electronic crime prevention and investigation (ECPI) course availability and develop a digital forensics research laboratory.
Richard Leipold, Computer Science professor, is researching ECPI and digital forensics training and defining a national standard through the Justice Administration grant. Leipold is developing a training prototype for both ECPI methodology and content. The prototype will focus on military applications and law enforcement agencies. Waynesburg University has partnered with outside organizations and experts such as MountainTop Technologies, Inc. and the West Virginia Cyber Crime Cooperative in order to develop a final product.
