Doug Lee - Executive Vice President

Douglas G. Lee joined Waynesburg University as Executive Vice President of Institutional Advancement in August of 2009.

Lee received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Waynesburg University (then College) in 1981 and his Juris Doctorate degree from West Virginia University in 1990. He was a partner with the law firm of Steptoe and Johnson, Attorneys at Law, a regional firm with 180 lawyers in West Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio, where he successfully led one of the firm's group divisions. Prior to that position, Lee operated a thriving insurance brokerage in the Waynesburg area.

Lee was instrumental in the formation of the University's Alumni Council and served as a member of the Board of Trustees in a variety of leadership roles including Chair of the Academic Matters Committee and as Board Secretary.
He has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® and is a graduate of Leadership West Virginia. A proponent for civic involvement, Lee is an Elder in the Presbyterian Church and in addition, he serves on the Board of Directors for the Union Rescue Mission in Fairmont, West Virginia.

An accomplished endurance athlete, Lee has completed three Ironman distance triathlons and participated in several marathons including the Marine Corps Marathon and Death Valley Marathon.

His responsibilities as Executive Vice President include advancing all fundraising and alumni activities consistent with the mission and vision of the University. Lee looks forward to furthering the mission of Christian higher education and is committed to excellence and leadership.

Lee and his wife, Kathryn, have been married for 27 years and have two children.

Heidi Szuminsky - Director of Donor and Alumni Relations

Heidi (Watson ’05), ’07 has been with Waynesburg University since July of 2005. She previously served in positions as admissions counselor and assistant director of University Relations. She graduated from Waynesburg University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication, emphasis in public relations, and a Master of Arts in Business Administration, emphasis in Leadership and Human Resources. She is a member of the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the College and University Public Relations Assocation of Pennsylvania. Heidi serves on the board of the Waynesburg Area Chamber of Commerce.

Courtney Dennis - Assistant Director of Alumni Relations

Courtney Dennis joined Waynesburg University in March of 2010 as the Institutional Advancement Secretary and went on to become the Assistant Director of Alumni Relations in January of 2011. Originally from Hundred, WV, she moved to Waynesburg in 2005. Courtney received her B.A. in history from Bethany College in 2003 and her M.A. in public history from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2005. Courtney’s previous work experience includes three years serving as Research Director for an intellectual property firm in Washington, Pa., and two years working for the Greene County Tourist Promotion Agency. One of Courtney’s hobbies is living history. She is a volunteer at the David Bradford House in Washington, Pa., where one of her main responsibilities is conducting 1700's open-hearth cooking demonstrations. She also has a standing invitation to work with the interpretive staff at George Washington’s Mount Vernon, where she volunteers when she can.

Victoria Beppler - Alumni Relations Representative
Victoria (’11) joined the Office of Institutional Advancement in September 2011 after graduating from Waynesburg University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations in May 2011. While a student at Waynesburg, Victoria was actively involved in the Department of Communication serving as president of the Waynesburg University Public Relations Society of America Chapter in its inaugural year. She also participated in other campus organizations including Lambda Pi Eta, WCYJ-FM, The Jacket and Residence Life. She is excited for the opportunity to combine her writing and communication skills with her interest in social media in her role as Alumni Relations Representative. When she’s not in the office, you can usually find her enjoying her favorite hobbies: knitting, baking or tweeting.

Ferdinand Dolfi - Alumni Secretary/Database Coordinator

Ferd Dolfi ’84 has worked at Waynesburg University for 26 years. He has served in the Development, Alumni, Admissions, and Business Offices over the years. Ferd graduated from Waynesburg in 1984 with a B.A. degree in Public Service Administration. He also serves as an Organist/Pianist for two local church communities in the Waynesburg area. Originally from Masontown, Pa., Ferd and his wife Susan reside in Waynesburg with their two children – Anne (age 20) and Adam (age 18). In addition to his interest in music, Ferd is a collector of postcards.

Mary L. Fox - Event Planner

Mary is a lifelong resident of Waynesburg. She is married to Tim Fox and has three children, ages 19, 16, and 12. Mary graduated from Ohio University with a degree in business management. She also has received her emergency teaching certification and most recently has been a substitute teacher in the Central Greene School District. Mary is a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Waynesburg where she has served as Deacon, Sunday school teacher, VBS Director and on the Christian Education committee. Mary is also a member of the board of directors of the Greene County United Way, where she serves on the Appropriations Committee. Mary's responsibilities at the University as event planner include the coordination of alumni events on campus and around the country.

Christine Schwartzmiller - Secretary
Chris Schwartzmiller joined WU in January. She’s a Slippery Rock alumni, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Education. Prior to WU, Chris raised her family while working in marketing for Eagle Concepts, Inc. and as a Program Assistant at Meadow Lands United Methodist Church where she was active as Sunday School Superintendent and VBS Coordinator. She also volunteered for the Chartiers-Houston Elementary School where she was a member of the PFO, chaired many committees, served on the Executive Board as President and VP for many years and coached cheerleading. Chris continues to be active in her church where she is a trustee, memorial fund treasurer and on the educational advisory board. She enjoys large family get-togethers, the beach, boating,  and biking along with her husband of 21 years, Rick and their two children, RJ, 15 and Madison, 13. The Schwartzmillers reside in Washington.
