10:00 a.m. Arrive to the Marsh Center in Roberts Chapel for Baccalaureate Procession Line-up

All graduates will robe in the Marsh Center (lower level of Chapel) promptly at 10:00 a.m. The procession line forms at 10:30 a.m.

The procession will begin at 10:50 a.m. under the direction of Dr. James Bush, Assistant Faculty Marshal. The procession for Baccalaureate will not follow any specific alpha or degree order. Please be prompt!

11:00 a.m. Baccalaureate Service: Sunday, May 19, 2013

Baccalaureate will be held in Roberts Chapel.

Caps are worn during the procession and until the beginning of the invocation, at which time they are removed. Graduates are not to wear master's or doctoral hoods during this service.

11:30 a.m. Graduate Luncheon in Benedum Dining Hall: Tickets are Required

This luncheon is for graduates and two guests.  Tickets are provided in the packet with cap and gown for each graduate.

Honor Cords Distribution: Immediately following Baccalaureate: Gymnasium foyer 

Distribution of Cords and Pins: Honor cords and Academic Excellence pins may be obtained in the foyer of the Gymnasium immediately following Baccalaureate until just prior to Commencement line up at 1:00 p.m.

Display of Honors: Only Waynesburg University Honor cords and Academic Excellence pins shall be worn on the robe during the ceremonies. No departmental or organizational pins, cords or sashes, or other decorations are to be displayed on either the cap or gown. Graduates are not permitted to carry or wear flowers during the ceremonies.

1:00 p.m. Arrive to Commencement Procession Line-up Locations

Bachelor's Degree Candidates will robe in the Gymnasium (see campus map) at 1:00 p.m. Promptness is imperative as the procession begins at 1:55 p.m. Those who are not at their assembly points, in academic regalia, when the procession is formed, will receive their diploma at the end of the granting of degrees portion of the ceremony and will not be with others in their specific degree category. Graduates will line up alphabetically in double files by degree. Signs will be posted in the Gymnasium indicating where you should gather.

Members of the faculty will assist Assistant Faculty Marshal Dr. Bush in the double files and will lead the graduates in each of their designated degree programs in the procession.

Master's Degree and Doctoral Candidates will robe in the Center for Research and Economic Development (CRED) (see campus map) at 1:00 p.m. Promptness is imperative. Signs will be posted for the designated degree programs. Those who are not at their assembly points, in academic regalia, when the procession is formed, will receive their diploma at the end of the granting of degrees portion of the ceremony and not with others in their specific degree category.

Members of the faculty will assist the Dean of Graduate and Professional Studies, Mr. Mariner, and will lead the graduates in each of their designated degree programs in the procession.

Late Arrivals: Any candidate arriving after 1:00  will be considered late-arriving and must report to the Gymnasium for further instructions from a representative from the Office of the Registrar. A late arrival will be seated at the end of the procession and will receive his/her diploma following all other degree candidates. Once the Commencement procession begins, it is not interrupted.

2:00 p.m. Commencement Service: Sunday, May 19, 2013

Graduates will observe proper decorum and etiquette that befits a formal, once-in-a-lifetime ceremony. Graduates are not permitted to carry gifts, flowers, etc. during the academic exercises. Guests and graduates are asked not to use cellular phones during the ceremony. Use of cellular phones during the ceremony, including the procession across campus, is disruptive to guests, students, and ceremony participants.

Dr. Bush, Assistant Faculty Marshal, will lead the bachelor's degree candidates, and Mr. Mariner will lead the master's degree and doctoral candidates across Fountain Park to the sidewalk in front of Miller Hall. The procession of graduates will stop in front of Miller Hall and separate into two ranks to honor the President, special guests, trustees, and faculty as they pass through.

Once the procession begins, it will not stop or be broken until it is completed at the front of Miller Hall and all graduates have been seated.

Caps are worn during the procession and ceremonies but are removed for the invocation, national anthem, and benediction.

All graduates are expected to participate in the entire ceremony, from the start of the procession through the recession after the benediction.

A Professional photographer will be taking pictures as graduates shake hands with the President. These images will be available for purchase through Grad Images, the independent vendor contracted for this service. Proofs will be mailed to the graduate by Grad Images.
