NURSING SIMULATION LAB

Dedicated in September 2008, the sophisticated, state-of-the-art simulation lab offers students the opportunity to experience complex patient care in simulated situations. The simulation lab provides a safe and effective environment for students to learn and apply cognitive, psychomotor, and decision-making skills for clinical practice.

The lab has eight patient rooms; each room has audio-video digital recording and remote-viewing capabilities as well as a high-fidelity simulator. A medication room, storage area, debriefing room, and control room, from which the recording system is operated, were also built into the space. EKGs, heart sounds, lung sounds, blood pressure, and pulses are simulated on the manikins. They also provide for practice of IV cannulation, medication administration, cardiac monitoring, and wound care.
