The Theatre Minor
"All the World is a Stage," and the stage at Waynesburg University is calling you! If you love Theatre and the theatrical arts, courses in acting, directing, playwriting, stage production, history and criticism await you. The Waynesburg University Players is a very active part of the university life, presenting major productions during the fall and spring semesters as well as the summer. Student-directed one-act plays, nights of improvisation, and trips to see professional theatre are also part of our "scene." We want you to help us make "magic!" Comedies, tragedies, dramas, and musicals have all found their way to the stage of the Performing Arts Center with such productions as West Side Story, Macbeth, Lend Me a Tenor, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Frankenstein, You Can't Take It with You, Brigadoon, Annie Get Your Gun, Godspell, and Steel Magnolias, to name a few. In addition to our major productions in the PAC, our intimate 250 seat auditorium, we also sponsor The King's Court, a Christian Drama touring troupe which performs in area churches. Waynesburg also has a chapter of Alpha Psi Omega, the nationally recognized honorary theatre society.
The 19 to 21 credit hour Theatre Minor can work well with and benefit any number of majors.
Associate Professor of Theatre and Director of Drama Edward L. Powers invites all of you to become part of theatre magic. Trod the boards with the Waynesburg University Players and become the "stuff that dreams are made of."
