RESOURCES & SERVICES

The Waynesburg University Writing Center offers writing assistance to all levels of writers. Its primary goal is to afford students the tools necessary to become better writers while assisting students as they learn the art of effectively sharing their own thoughts and ideas.

“There are no quick fixes or edits; rather, students will be engaged in an intensive one-on-one learning experience in which they will be asked to take responsibility for formulating a question about the assignment or to identify a writing problem,” said Jill Sunday, director of the Writing Center.

The Writing Center also affords the campus community access to a variety of resources including textbooks, handouts, tools for test preparation, and assistance with grammar, among other resources.

Recognizing the variety of resources and the benefits they offer, Sunday hopes the Writing Center becomes an integral part of the writing process for all Waynesburg University students.

“Instead of bringing a final paper to the Center to be looked over by a tutor, ideally a student would visit the Writing Center before beginning the assignment, and a few times throughout the process of writing,” she said. “Doing this will enable students to make sure the subject is adequately developed, the language is rich and the citations are correct.”

In addition to extending the Writing Center hours to better serve Waynesburg University students, the Center was recently relocated to the third floor of the Eberly Library.
