Crosby Lecture Series. The lecture will take place Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m. in the Goodwin Performing Arts Center. Admission is free, and the public is cordially invited to attend.

“We are honored to welcome such an accomplished professional to Waynesburg University’s campus,” said Dr. Dana Cook Baer, provost. “Through her distinguished work at the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium, as well as in her role in conservation efforts worldwide, Dr. Baker truly embodies the vision of the Crosby Lecture Program.”

As leader of the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG aquarium, Baker manages one of the nation’s major zoological parks and more than 8,000 animals. During her time as president and CEO, the park has been repeatedly recognized for its educational programs and conservation efforts.

Baker has also been honored as a Distinguished Daughter of Pennsylvania, one of Pittsburgh’s Most Admired CEOs and Top Executives, and the 2015 Pittsburgh Business Woman of the Year.

The Lectureship hosting Baker, funded by 1950 magna cum laude graduates of Waynesburg University, Glenn A. and Jane Lichtenfels Crosby, brings to the University visiting scholars who are distinguished in their disciplines.

Founded in 1849 by the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Waynesburg University is located on a traditional campus in the hills of southwestern Pennsylvania, with three additional sites located in the Pittsburgh region. The University is one of only 21 Bonner Scholar schools in the country, offering local, regional and international opportunities to touch the lives of others through service.
