An opening reception will be held for the show Oct. 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Benedum Fine Arts Gallery. Admission is free, and the public is cordially invited to attend.

Artists are invited to submit their collage artwork to be featured in the show. The goal of the show is to answer the question, “what is a collage?” and to showcase the diversity of collage art. As such, artists’ work can be creative, unique and unusual. Artists interested in participating should contact Andrew Heisey, assistant professor of art at the University, before Sept. 30. Artwork will need to arrive at the University by Oct. 7.

Collage has been a staple art form since it was created by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque. Heisey said he hopes the exhibit serves to illustrate to students the variety of forms collages can take, from collaged videos to wood landscapes.

“Every art exhibit here in the Benedum Art Gallery is to educate our students about various art styles and forms,” said Heisey.

For more information or to enter artwork in the show, contact Heisey at 724-852-3274 or aheisey@waynesburg.edu.

Founded in 1849 by the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Waynesburg University is located on a traditional campus in the hills of southwestern Pennsylvania, with three additional sites located in the Pittsburgh region. The University is a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) and is one of only 21 Bonner Scholar schools in the country, offering local, regional and international opportunities to touch the lives of others through service.
