b2ap3_thumbnail_Homecoming-0502.jpgWaynesburg University will host its annual Homecoming celebration Friday, Sept. 29, and Saturday, Sept. 30. The weekend will invite alumni, staff, faculty and students to join together for a variety of events.

During the two-day celebration, the University will sponsor its 21st Annual Waynesburg University Homecoming 5K Run and Walk, a 50th Reunion Brunch for the Class of 1967 and the Alumni Tent during halftime of the 1:30 p.m. football game on Saturday with the 5th Quarter Steak Cookout immediately following.

“Homecoming is a great time for alumni to come back to campus and reconnect with each other and celebrate being a graduate of Waynesburg University,” said Victoria Beppler, associate director of alumni relations. “There will be many opportunities throughout the weekend to learn more about the history of the University and to get a feel for the current campus life.”

The 6th Annual JacketFest will be held in Johnson Commons beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30. This is a family friendly event in which current students and alumni can connect. Various Waynesburg University clubs and organizations will be present to offer something unique and entertaining.

Also on Saturday, the Paul R. Stewart Museum will feature its new exhibit “Do I Know What I’m Doing: The Multifaceted James D. “Fuzzy” Randolph.” The display will illustrate the captivating life, interests and talents of this extraordinary and beloved member of the Waynesburg family who passed away Nov. 10, 2016.

That evening, an encore presentation of “Dearly Beloved,” a comedy described as “the wackiest wedding you’ll ever attend,” will be presented at 7:30 p.m. in the Goodwin Performing Arts Center.

The special performance will mark Edward L. Powers’ 50th major production at Waynesburg. Powers is a professor of theatre and has been the director of the Theatre Program for 17 years.

Registration for many of the Homecoming events is either suggested or required. To register, visit waynesburgunited.com/homecoming17.
