Kerry Purnell

Biography
Kerry Purnell came to Waynesburg University from Miami, FL and has been a part of the Waynesburg family since 2010. As Assistant Registrar for Academic Records, she prepares academic plans and meets with all students prior to graduation. Her knowledge also expands to academics where she teaches sections of the Fiat Lux class for incoming Freshman students. As an instrumentalist, she has performed with the University’s symphonic band playing trombone, flute, baritone, and bass trombone. She has even learned the Tuba in order to play in the annual Tuba Christmas production.
Kerry is also quite involved in the local church. As Bible Quiz director for the Church of the Nazarene, she travels once a month taking teens to Quizzing Competitions and once a year to Boston for a Regional meet. She has run the soundboard, directed handbells, sat on the Church board, and led Sunday School. Kerry has also participated on international mission trips which include Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Ghana. She has led two trips to The Bahamas. Currently, she is completing additional studies to meet requirements for ordination for The Church of the Nazarene. Since January 2018, she has been the senior pastor at a Nazarene Church in Washington, PA.
If free time exists, Kerry enjoys traveling, geocaching, and visiting family in other states. She states, “new adventures are always desired – picking a road and just driving with no agenda is a great way to see new places and learn new things.”
