COVID-19 Impact Assessment

Survey Results from Greene & Washington County Nonprofit Organizations

About the Project

Waynesburg University's Center for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR Center) will present its data collected from a recent survey of nonprofit organizations in Greene and Washington counties. The survey was conducted to assess the impact of COVID-19 on local nonprofits and explored how the pandemic affected, to date, their internal operations and external services provided.

More than 80 nonprofits across the two-county region participated in the survey. The list of nonprofits invited to participate was developed through a collective effort between the CSR Center and partner organizations, including the Community Foundation of Greene County, Washington County Community Foundation, Grantmakers of Western Pennsylvania and the Bayer Center for Nonprofit Management (at Robert Morris University).

The data analysis was conducted by a team of Waynesburg University faculty members that consisted of Dr. Abolade Ezekiel Olagoke, associate professor of sociology; Dr. Jenny Jellison, professor of psychology; and Dr. Karen Younger, chair of the Department of Humanities and associate professor of history. The faculty team worked in consultation with the CSR Center staff throughout the entire survey planning, collection and analysis process.

It is the intention of the CSR Center that the information derived from this project will help its corporate members (and others) in understanding the best ways to support the needs of nonprofits within their respective operating areas through meaningful and strategic CSR decision making post-COVID-19.
