Department of Fine Arts to host One Act Plays

Tim Durkin Nov 15, 2023

Waynesburg University’s Department of Fine Arts will host an evening of one act plays Tuesday, Nov. 28, at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free to all who attend.

Two plays will be shown: “Christmas Dolls” and “The Waiting Room.” Both were written by Edward Powers, director of theater at Waynesburg University.

“Christmas Dolls” is about two dolls that think Christmas is all about them. They eventually discover the true meaning of the holiday thanks to a friendly teddy bear. The cast includes Elisabeth Medvic, freshman chemistry secondary education major from Cecil, Pennsylvania; Riley Grecco, freshman forensic science major from Butler, Pennsylvania; and Cory Tretinik, Waynesburg University staff.

“The Waiting Room” follows a baby in Heaven that has been discriminated against due to a handicap. God has to remind her that she is uniquely loved and special. The cast includes Hailey Crusenberry, freshman forensic chemistry major from Toano, Virginia; Ben Shaner, freshman finance major from Waynesburg, Pennsylvania; Haley Pattison, freshman marine biology major from Hastings, Pennsylvania; and Gabrielle Yazzani, freshman psychology major from Uniontown, Pennsylvania.

Powers said he is excited about this group of actors and believes they can present these two heartfelt stories well.
