Waynesburg welcomes the Class of 2026
Waynesburg University’s 2022-23 academic year officially began Friday, Aug. 26, with the University’s annual Matriculation Ceremony. President Douglas G. Lee and other University leaders and faculty department chairs welcomed the freshman class during the 2 p.m. ceremony in Roberts Chapel.
The Class of 2026 is comprised of students from 25 states across the country, with more than a third of students coming from outside of Pennsylvania, including Florida, Texas, Nevada and Wisconsin.
Freshmen moved into their residence halls Thursday, Aug. 25, and participated in a number of scheduled events throughout the weekend that were part of the University's New Student Orientation programming, including a community-wide Service Day Saturday, Aug. 27.
Matriculation
During the Matriculation Ceremony, President Lee highlighted the key idea of perseverance as referenced in Romans 5, recalling that it is “perseverance that produces character; character produces hope; and hope does not disappoint.”
“If you develop perseverance as an essential quality of your character, you’ll create countless opportunities,” President Lee went on to share. “I truly do look forward to watching each of you grow and develop in the time that we have here together.”
