A transformational investment in student living

From the summer 2026 renovations of Burns and Thayer to the planned fall 2028 opening of the new hilltop residence hall on the former Ray Hall site, Waynesburg University is executing a strategic, phased housing transformation. This comprehensive housing initiative reflects a strategic commitment to strengthening infrastructure, elevating the student experience and positioning the University for long-term growth and sustainability.

Summer 2026: Infrastructure Renewed

Summer 2026 marks a defining season of progress across campus — pairing infrastructure upgrades with meaningful student involvement.

Burns Residence Hall: Comprehensive Upgrade

Burns Residence Hall will receive extensive modernization, including:

Full building-wide power upgrade
Renovation of nine new Jack-and-Jill bathrooms
Fresh paint throughout the building
New lighting in every room
New wardrobe units in all rooms
Fresh hallway carpeting
Air conditioning installed in every room

In alignment with student-centered focus, a student team helped select:

Carpet colors
Room paint colors
Tile selections for the renovated bathrooms

Their participation ensures the upgraded space reflects both quality and student ownership.

Thayer Residence Hall: Infrastructure Modernization

Expanded University Access: New Parking & EV Charging

Opening Fall 2028: A New Hilltop Residence Hall

Planned for completion by the Fall 2028 semester, the new three-story residence hall will be constructed on the former site of the single-level Ray Hall, honoring the legacy of that location while reimagining its future.

This new facility will house 60 students in spacious four-person suite-style layouts (a mix of doubles and singles), combining privacy, comfort and community. The basement level will include a fully equipped laundry room and flexible unfinished space reserved for future programming. A student design team is actively contributing to the project by selecting furniture for suite living rooms, the lobby, elevator landings, rooftop indoor and outdoor spaces.

Crowning the residence hall will be a signature rooftop complex designed for daily student use and major campus events.

The eHIVE is home to the University’s award-winning Entrepreneurial Leadership Program, established in 2018.

Waynesburg University celebrated the grand opening of its Entrepreneurial Hub for Innovative Ventures and Endeavors’ (eHIVE) new location on Friday, February 16. Now located on the first floor of Stover Campus Center, the eHIVE’s new space continues the work of the University’s award-winning Entrepreneurial Leadership Program.

Places emphasis on student flexibility

Beginning in the 2024-25 academic year, new Waynesburg University students experience a new general education curriculum that provides more flexibility while preserving the foundation of a liberal arts education. The curriculum, “Explore and Connect,” is the result of several years of focused faculty discussions and consistent feedback from students who desired the option to customize their liberal arts experience.

Faculty members considered input from University alumni, several departmental advisory boards, and external corporate partners to revise and develop curriculum to ensure that graduates meet the expectations of employers and 21^st century workplace challenges.
