Waynesburg University will celebrate the 174th anniversary of its charter by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Tuesday, March 19, with a special convocation in Roberts Chapel. Rev. Dr. Thomas M. Hall, II, will deliver the convocation address.
About the speaker
In 2023, Tom Hall retired after serving nearly 15 years as senior pastor of the historic First Presbyterian Church of Pittsburgh. Tom and his wife, Jana, had moved to Pittsburgh in 2005 so that Tom could attend Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. It was their 19th move. The previous year, Tom had completed a 30-year career in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in the rank of colonel as the Chairman of the Leadership and Ethics Department at the Air War College. His military career had included experience in flying operations, reconnaissance, intelligence, flight test, headquarters staff, international duty, and three command assignments. Tom’s academic credentials include a Bachelor of Science Degree from the U.S. Air Force Academy, a Master of Science Degree from the University of Southern California, and a Master of Divinity Degree from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.
In 2014, Tom was awarded a Doctor of Humane Letters from Waynesburg University, where he currently serves as a trustee.
Tom and Jana have two sons and five granddaughters and will celebrate 50 years of marriage this year.
