Fauré's Requiem

Presented by the Lamplighters Choir

The Lamplighters Concert and Touring Choirs will present Gabriel Fauré's Requiem to honor the many loved ones lost during the pandemic.

The Fauré Requiem is a musical work consisting of the choir, soloists, and a small instrumental ensemble. The Lamplighters choir will be joined by singers from our alumni, faculty, staff, and community for this musical offering. The instrumental ensemble will include many of our music faculty as well as other professional community members.

This musical work highlights the biblical view of death and resurrection, and the hope of eternal life for those that accept Christ as their Savior. The choir sings to God asking Him to grant eternal rest, have mercy, and provide His promised deliverance. It is an offering of song and praise to God declaring His holiness, His sacrifice, and His promise of paradise and rest to all that believe in Him.

The beautiful French impressionistic harmonies will transport you into a reverent and otherworldly place and will guide you through musical feelings of hope, despair, joy, sadness, and finally peace in the finished work of Christ.

The Fauré Requiem will be offered on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, in the Roberts Chapel on the Waynesburg University campus at 11:00 am. The service will consist of hymns, readings, and the formal presentation of the Fauré Requiem.

There will be a second performance of the Requiem at the First Presbyterian Church of Pittsburgh (320 6th avenue Pittsburgh) on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at 1:00 pm.

All are invited to attend.

We are encouraging our students, faculty, staff, and friends to honor a family member, friend, or loved one lost during the pandemic by having their name and words of remembrance printed in our program.
