3 students spend their summer restoring diamondback terrapin population

In June, Courtney Parks (B.S. Marine Biology, ‘19), Kaitlyn Podlogar (B.S. Biology, ‘20) and Aubrey Wingeart (B.S. Marine Biology, ‘22) participated as interns with Project Terrapin, an organization dedicated to protecting and restoring diamondback terrapin population in the Mid-Atlantic coast. Staying at the Jacques Cousteau National Estuary Research Reserve, these students helped capture, PIT-tag, assess and release nearly 700 turtles, as well as relocate nesting females and recovered terrapin eggs!
