Fine Arts Department to host student art show

Opening reception to be held Nov. 25

Rachel Pellegrino Nov 21, 2019

The Department of Fine Arts will host a Student Art Show Monday, Nov. 25, through Friday, Dec. 6, in the Benedum Art Gallery. The show will open with a reception Nov. 25 at 6 p.m. All are welcome, admission is free and refreshments will be served.

The Art Show will showcase the best artwork created by current art students.

“The student show is a collection of work that comes from whatever art courses are offered each semester. This year, we have a drawing class, a jewelry and metals class, a ceramics class, a sculpture class, printmaking [and] design for art,” said Andrew Heisey, chairperson for the Department of Fine Arts and associate professor of art.

Despite showcasing artwork from the same classes each year, the art show continues to be unique.

“It’s really neat to be able to see what all the students make because it’s never the same, even though we offer the same courses each year. The big surprise is, I never know what students are going to make,” said Heisey.
