First art show of fall semester to open Sept. 16

Artwork will focus on drawings

Matthew Stultz Sep 4, 2019

The Waynesburg University Department of Fine Arts will host the first art show of the fall semester Monday, Sept. 16, through Friday, Oct. 11. An opening reception will be held Sept. 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Benedum Art Gallery.

Admission is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The show will feature work from professionals Andy Walker, Jessie Anne Clark and Veronica Cianfranco and will focus on drawings.

“According [to its definition], a drawing is a ‘picture or diagram made with a pencil, pen or crayon rather than paint,’” shared Andrew Heisey, associate professor of art and chairperson of the Department of Fine Arts. “To artists working today, the definition of drawing is much broader.”

These three artists have been invited to Waynesburg to share their various interpretations to drawing, said Heisey.

The next art show of this semester will feature Allyson Barker, a senior art major, and will open Monday, Oct. 28.
