Music Program to host jazz and orchestra concerts

Matthew Stultz Nov 8, 2019

The Waynesburg University Music Program will host two upcoming concerts – a jazz ensemble concert Tuesday, Nov. 12, and a chamber orchestra concert Friday, Nov. 15. Both concerts will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Marsh Center and are open to the public.

The jazz ensemble, under the director of Jeremy Olisar, lecturer of music, will present a variety of music from Big Band swing to Latin to afro-Cuban to funk, among others.

“If you are a jazz fan, you will not want to miss the Waynesburg University Jazz Ensemble,” said Olisar. “Bring a friend and enjoy some wonderful music presented by this ensemble.”

The chamber orchestra, under the direction of Sara Beattie, lecturer of music, will present a concert titled, “Water Music.”

“Friday night and classical music work so well together,” shared Beattie. “You have an opportunity to experience both right here in Waynesburg.”

Alexandra Morar and Robbie Morris perform during an orchestra performance.
