Waynesburg University’s Department of Fine Arts will host a juried, open-call art exhibition Monday, Sept. 19, through Friday, Oct. 14.
The exhibition, titled “Best in Show: Pet Portraits,” will feature original artwork by faculty, students and community members inspired by their pets. A variety of work including paintings, drawings, sculptures, photography and animation will be presented in the show.
Featured artwork was chosen by Emily Wiedner, lecturer in art, and awards were juried by Maggie Denniston Merow, artist and Waynesburg University alumna.
“The last few shows we've done have been very serious,” said Wiedner. “I wanted to do something that anyone could participate in that was simple and fun. The end result is a great variety of work from many artists of many ages.”
An opening reception for the exhibition will be held Monday, Sept. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Benedum Fine Arts Gallery. Admission is free and the public is cordially invited to attend. Refreshments will be available during the reception.
The Benedum Fine Arts Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
