Waynesburg U. Lamplighters Touring Choir to present fall concert

Steven Trettel Oct 31, 2025

Continuing a Waynesburg University tradition, the Lamplighters Touring Choir will present their annual fall concert Thursday, Nov. 6, from 5-6 p.m. in Roberts Chapel, led by director Melanie Catana.

The program consists of the following songs:

  • Keep Your Lamps arranged by Victor C. Johnson
  • Lord of All by Phill McHugh and arranged by Fettke an Grassi
  • Adoramus Te by Orlandus Lassus
  • Psalm 34 arranged by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir
  • The Lord Bless You and Keep You by Peter Lutkin and arranged by William Stickles
  • Arirang by Russel Robinson

Arirang is a traditional Korean folk song that will feature performances from the University’s Korean exchange students, Juyong Kang and Yoojin Park, and Dr. Sora Lee, the Lamplighters’ piano accompanist. Kang, a music major, specializes in playing the haegeum, a traditional Korean bowed string instrument, and will showcase her skills during the piece.

Sierra Rotz, the choir president, has written an original piece for the program and will feature a song by her grandfather’s music group in his memory, following his recent passing.

In addition to their campus performances, the Lamplighters Touring Choir serves and performs for the community at various churches and senior living centers every fall. In the spring, the choir travels to a major city where they partner and serve with a Christian non-profit entity.

The choir’s mission statement is “to create common ground with all people through meaningful music, personal interaction, and work-related service, and while doing these things, share God’s love and the good news of Jesus Christ.”

Consistently ranked a best value school, Waynesburg University’s Strategy for the 21st Century affirms its commitment to developing an entrepreneurial mindset and ethical leadership skills for all students. Rooted in its mission of faith, learning and service, the private, Christian University is located on a traditional campus in the hills of southwestern Pennsylvania.
