Tom Szejko
Vice President for Finance and Chief Operating Officer
Biography
With more than 30 years of finance experience in both higher education and beyond, Tom Szejko joined Waynesburg University as Vice President for Finance and Chief Operating Officer in 2024. He oversees and strengthens business objectives, budget and financial reporting; allocation of resources; analysis and projections; and institutional operations.
As a member of the executive management team, he provides strategic guidance, long-term planning and operational leadership in support of the University’s mission and strategic themes.
Since 2000, Szejko has worked in higher education, serving in various leadership capacities in the finance field at both Washington & Jefferson College and Carlow University, including Interim Vice President for Business and Finance and CFO, Controller and Director of Financial Reporting. He has also held various roles at an accounting firm and served as the controller for Allegheny Country Club.
Szejko’s professional affiliations include the National Association of College and University Business Officers, the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania and the University Risk Management and Insurance Association, among others. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Robert Morris University.
Mr. Szejko currently resides in Canonsburg.
