Sports Announcing & Sports Journalism Camp

Hosted by Lanny Frattare, our camp offers the theories and the practical experience necessary to start a student on the road toward a career in either sports broadcasting or sports journalism.

Due to ongoing uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sports Announcing & Sports Journalism Camp will not take place in 2022. It is the hope of the University to hold the Camp in 2023.

Have you thought about a career as a sports announcer or sports journalist? We can teach you the techniques to be successful!

Each June, former voice of the Pittsburgh Pirates Lanny Frattare hosts Waynesburg University’s Sports Announcing & Sports Journalism Camp. Its purpose is to allow students interested in those fields to learn the philosophies and techniques of the profession. Attendees receive practical experience in reporting sports, interviewing, doing play-by-play and more.

Current high school sophomores, juniors and seniors are eligible to attend. Please stay tuned, as we hope to announce dates for the 2022 camp soon! If you have any questions, please contact Admissions Counselor Juan Gallo at or 724-852-3314.
