The Music Program at Waynesburg University will host Colombian flautist, Felipe Jáuregui-Rubio, Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 7 p.m. in the Goodwin Performing Arts Center.
Jáuregui-Rubio will present a masterclass on flute, where he will teach students about the history of the flute and its use in a variety of musical styles. Waynesburg University students will also have a chance to perform for Jáuregui-Rubio and receive feedback. This Masterclass is free and open to all musicians in Greene County.
As a lecturer, he has taught at various institutions such as the Universidad de Los Andes in Cundinamarca, Colombia. Since 2012, Jáuregui-Rubio has taught at the music school in Dornbirn, Austria. He received his degree in music and artistic studies at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, and his master's degree in baroque flute with Professor Marcello Gatti at the University of Music and Dramatic Arts Mozarteum in Salzburg.
Jáuregui-Rubio has performed with several orchestras, including the Liechtenstein Symphony Orchestra, the Southwest German Philharmonic Orchestra of Constance, the Colombian National Symphony Orchestra, the Colombian Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Bogotá Conservatory Orchestra, the Cundinamarca Youth Orchestra, the Constance Young Chamber Orchestra, the Dornbirn Youth Orchestra and the Dornbirn Youth Orchestra in Feldkirch.
