Waynesburg University’s Department of Fine Arts will host an art show by visiting artist, Katherine Volpe, beginning Monday, Oct. 24, in the Benedum Fine Arts Center.
Volpe’s works will be on display through Friday, Nov. 18, with an opening reception to be held Oct. 24 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The exhibit is open to all students, faculty and staff, as well as the community.
“This show exhibits the work of a visiting artist,” said Emily Wiedner, lecturer of art. “We do [exhibits] like this to show students different types of artwork and give them the opportunity to meet and speak with living, working artists.”
Volpe’s work primarily consists of oil pieces and focuses on the realities of accepting one’s identity, which will be showcased through her selected works for the Waynesburg exhibit.
Access to the exhibit will be Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for students, faculty and staff. Visitors to campus are asked to schedule a timed visit or tour by appointment.
