Core Ensemble to perform “Tres Vidas”

Special concert to be held Feb. 7

Rachel Pellegrino Feb 4, 2020

The Waynesburg University Fine Arts Department will host Core Ensemble Friday, Feb. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the Goodwin Performing Arts Center, as part of the department’s Performing Arts Series.

Tickets are free for Waynesburg University students and employees; however, community members must pay $15 for adults and $8 for children under 17. Tickets are available at the door or online at waynesburg.ticketleap.com/tresvidas.

Over the past ten years, the musical group Core Ensemble has performed two other shows at Waynesburg, both celebrating Black History month. Waynesburg is excited to welcome the professional artists back for another educational performance.

Core Ensemble will perform their chamber music theater work titled “Tres Vidas.” The performance will encompass music, theater and stories of the lives of three Latin American female visual artists: Frida Kahlo, Rufina Amaya and Alfonsina Storni.

“The celebration of the lives of the three Latin-American women and their cultures will bring enrichment to our students and professors, as well as the overall Waynesburg community,” said Dr. Ronda DePriest, professor of instrumental music and director of the Music Program. “Students of history, political science, philosophy, language, ministry and the arts will be treated to an original perspective on the lives and influences of these three strong and prominent women.”

For more information, contact DePriest at 724-852-3420 or rdepries@waynesburg.edu.
