Assistant professor of nursing at Waynesburg University, Dr. Eve Weaver, has obtained the title of Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) through the Society in Healthcare Simulation.

“I have a passion for nursing and healthcare simulation,” Dr. Weaver said. “Becoming certified was the perfect way to merge the two.”
The certification required a minimum of two years of experience in a healthcare simulation setting. Dr. Weaver has 12 years of experience as a simulation educator.
Another requirement was that the educator’s continued use of simulation and health care education research must demonstrate relevant simulation-based educational activities that shares evidence of their capabilities as a simulation-based educator.
Participate in scholarly activities relevant to simulation-based education was another required qualification. Dr. Weaver recently presented at the University of Kentucky on “Utilizing High Fidelity Simulation to Enhance Assessment, Therapeutic Communication, and Clinical Judgement in the Post Partum Hemorrhage Patient.”
"Certification assists nurse educators to develop uniform simulations and evaluation, promotes quality education that improves clinical judgement/reasoning, and prepares students to be competent to work within the current multifaceted, complex healthcare system," Dr. Weaver said.
Dr. Weaver teaches numerous courses across the nursing curriculum, including Med/Surg, Pathophysiology, Fundamentals, OB/Peds and Psych clinical, and coordinates the Nursing Simulation lab. Her nursing experience includes education, medical-surgical, rehabilitation, long term care, home health nursing, and administration in various settings.
Dr. Weaver holds a Doctorate in Nursing Practice and is a Certified Nurse Educator.
