The sun is out, campus is quiet, and the academic year is over. We survived another semester during the COVID pandemic and now it is time to pause, unplug, and reflect. The summer months offer us the opportunity to slow down and recuperate. This past year, we’ve become even more dependent on technology. Virtual classes, virtual meetings, and constant connection to the internet have left many feeling burned out. Now is the time to take advantage of extended daylight, get out into nature, spend time by the water, read, and relax.
If you are unable to travel this summer, no need to worry! There are still plenty of local options for relaxation. Forest bathing is a wonderful way to reconnect with nature and slow down. The best part? You don’t have to go too far to find nature. Trails, parks, and neighborhoods abound with greenery, massive trees, and local wildlife. Take some time to slow down and absorb the natural world around you. Your heart and mind will be grateful.
Summer is also a wonderful time to catch up on personal reading. For months you scoured textbooks and other required readings. Now is the time for you to choose what you would like to read. Now is the time to read what you enjoy.
We hope you have a summer that is full of laughter, naps, time with loved ones, and creativity. If you would like to learn more about forest bathing or get some advice on what to read this summer, please visit the links below for more info.
