Waynesburg University has named Waverly Lorne, a high school senior from Governor Livingston High School, one of the 2023 recipients of the distinguished Founders Scholarship.
Lorne is the daughter of Edward and Kelly Lorne of New Providence, New Jersey.
"I am extremely honored to accept this scholarship," shared Lorne. "I'm thrilled to represent Waynesburg University in this way. It's truly a blessing."
At Governor Livingston High School, she is a member of National Honor Society and the school's honors societies for athletics, math and Spanish.
Lorne also holds the treasurer position with her school's Student Auxiliary Club, which plans fundraisers to benefit local charities.
Her high school athletic participation includes soccer, lacrosse and fencing, where she has served as captain of the lacrosse and fencing teams.

Lorne is also active within her church, where she serves as a senior intern and is responsible for leading small group sessions for eighth graders.
She also works as the head lifeguard at a pool in her community.
Lorne will attend the University in the fall to study social science and pre-law. She will also play soccer for the Yellow Jackets' women's team.
"I am excited to start the next chapter of my life in the fall at Wayensburg," she added. "I cannot wait to dive right into the culture, get involved with the community and take the next steps in the pre-law [track]."
