The Waynesburg University Fine Arts Department will host a Senior Art Exhibit in the Benedum Art Gallery from Monday, March 18, to Thursday, April 4. The exhibit will feature senior art major Alex Lawrence, and will begin with a reception March 18 at 6 p.m. The event is free and the public is cordially invited to attend.
Lawrence said she has always been interested in art, inspired by artists like Vincent Van Gogh; but her professors at Waynesburg really challenged her to develop the meaning behind each piece she created.
“Once I got into my sophomore year, I really started to think about and put meaning behind my art,” she said. “I have really grown as a person and saw who I was.”
Lawrence’s senior art exhibit will include work in clay, graphite, watercolor, ink and pastels. She said she is looking forward to showing how her work has developed over the past four years.
“The best part is that the show is completely mine, and not just one piece hanging with a million others,” Lawrence said.
