Senior Reflection: Hope Casteline

Hope Casteline May 30, 2025

I moved six hours away from home to start my college journey. I was a nervous homeschool girl from a small town across the state; however, I was ready for a big change.

I found myself confused in my calling, and what I assumed to be my passion no longer felt exciting. I knew I wanted to help people and use my God-given gift of compassion to better the lives of many. I thank the Bonner Scholarship for aiding in my professional development. Through active service to the community, I felt called to get my degree in Psychology and work closely with those who were hurting. I was excited to go to class, passionate about learning, and determined to make a difference.

My psychology professors actively supported and encouraged me, pouring hours of their time into me—allowing someone like me, who often feels incapable and overwhelmed, to be successful. I was motivated to try my absolute hardest and never give up. A supportive environment, along with professors and peers who want the best for you, makes an intense few years immensely rewarding.

Thank you, Waynesburg, for pushing me out of my comfort zone, allowing me to gain confidence in my abilities, and turning me into the confident, successful woman I am becoming.
