Waynesburg U. aids student development through Future Professionals Day

Natalie Double Feb 12, 2026

On Thursday, Feb. 19, Waynesburg University hosted its third annual Future Professionals Day event to prepare students for their professional careers. Through the Pathways Center, seven individual programs took place, all featuring activities dedicated to interactive learning.

Topics and workshops included:

  • Mock Interviews with professional experts and Waynesburg University alumni
  • Etiquette Luncheon hosted by Provost Dr. Mindy Walls
  • Ask-a-Senior virtual Q&A session with senior professional studies major Sekye Miles
  • The Link-Up Lounge networking and LinkedIn workshop with Kayla Green, student-athlete success coordinator at Waynesburg University
  • Career Closet Pop-Up on the first floor of Stover showcasing featured items from the Career Closet as well as information about the resource and professional dress
  • Business Card Design Workshop hosted by the Waynesburg University Business Club and sophomore design major Meredith Allen
  • Professional Headshots photographed by senior communication major Andrew Stewart

The programs held on Future Professionals Day were implemented with a student-centered approach in mind. Topics were thoughtfully planned to ensure accessibility and relevance for all participants.

“By offering programming throughout one dedicated day, we aim to create flexible opportunities so that any student who wants to participate can engage in at least some components of the experience,” explained Sarah Bell, director of the Pathways Center.

One allocated day for the event also supported students' freedom to choose which events align with their academic and professional interests, without limiting their options.

“This event features programs led by both students and staff to offer students several pathways toward professional growth and development,” Bell said.

The day began with mock interviews, during which students had the opportunity to be interviewed by guests, including professional employers and Waynesburg University alumni. A total of 23 experts personally engaged with students through real-time feedback to support growth in a professional interview setting.

Specialized workshops also facilitated professional readiness across all disciplines. Each workshop specifically targeted a necessity in the professional world: making yourself stand out. By attending the Link Up Lounge to discuss networking or the Business Card Design Workshop to learn how to create a personal business card, students gained knowledge to prepare themselves for their future.
