Waynesburg U. announces Homecoming 2025 events

Steven Trettel Sep 24, 2025

Homecoming is just around the corner at Waynesburg University. Scheduled for Friday, Oct. 3, and Saturday, Oct. 4, the University has packed the weekend with events, dedications and activities for alumni.

“It's just great to be able to see alumni from at least as far back as the 1960s all the way up through our most recent grads from 2025,” said David Floyd, director of development and alumni relations, “and just see them connecting, see them reminiscing on how things were whenever they were here, how they might be different, how they might be the same, and just creating a lot of positive energy in terms of where the University has come.”

The University has assembled a full schedule for returning alumni which kicks off on Friday with golf at the Greene County Country Club. Later that evening, the Denny House will host an All-Alumni Celebration and Combined Class Reunion, concluding with remarks by University President Doug Lee.

Saturday opens with a Coffeehouse Rewind event at RGB Coffee on Washington St., from 8-10 a.m., where alumni will receive a free coffee and baked goods from The Sweetery, a local favorite. Anyone who signs up during the event for the University's new recurring giving program will receive an exclusive mug as a special thank-you.

Throughout the weekend, several academic departments and athletic teams are hosting reunions, games and brunches, where alumni can reconnect, play and dine with former teammates and classmates.

Beginning at 11 a.m. at the back gate of John F. Wiley Stadium, the University invites alumni to the Wiley Family Field Fest for complimentary gifts, snacks, drinks, games and more. The Homecoming football game kicks off at 1 p.m. at the stadium, where the Yellow Jackets will face the Allegheny College Gators. At halftime, the University will serve complimentary Chick-fil-A sandwiches to alumni, and the Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned.

Immediately following the game, the University is dedicating the pavilion at the back gate of the stadium to Ralph “Jake” Porter (’32), in honor of the Porter family’s generosity. Throughout the weekend, the University will dedicate two other locations, the Margaret “Peg” Porter Business Office and the Enid Hope (Waters ’46) Crockard Classroom in the Department of Education. In addition to honoring Enid Hope (Waters 46) Crockard, the classroom also recognizes the generosity of the James & Melanie Crockard Foundation.

The University expects hundreds of alumni to visit campus throughout the weekend and encourages all guests to make reservations for any activities they plan to attend.
