Waynesburg University is proud to announce a new cooperative agreement with the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), creating a direct pipeline for criminal justice students seeking to serve their communities as state troopers.
This partnership allows Waynesburg University to offer enrolled students college internship credit for the successful completion of the rigorous PSP Academy curricula. The initiative is designed to bridge the gap between academic study and active law enforcement duty, providing highly motivated students with a distinct advantage as they begin their careers.
Key benefits of the Waynesburg University and PSP partnership include:
- Academic Credit for Academy Training: The University will award internship credits or credit equivalency to students upon their successful acceptance and completion of the PSP Academy.
- Streamlined Career Path: Students can actively pursue their state police training while fulfilling their University internship requirements, transitioning seamlessly into the workforce.
- Elite Preparation: Students benefit from Waynesburg’s hands-on criminal justice curriculum, heavily focused on practical applications, which effectively prepares them for the physical and academic demands of the PSP Academy.
“This agreement recognizes the exceptional caliber of training provided at the Pennsylvania State Police Academy and aligns perfectly with Waynesburg University's mission to prepare students for lives of purpose and service,” said Adam Jack, Chair of the Department of Criminal Justice & Social Sciences at Waynesburg University. “By offering internship credit for academy completion, we are supporting our students' ambitions to join one of the nation's premier law enforcement agencies.”
