Waynesburg U. LPN to BSN Program ranked No. 2 in Pennsylvania

Waynesburg University’s Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program has been ranked No. 2 on PracticalNursing.org’s list of 2026 Best Pennsylvania LPN to RN/BSN Programs. The University was recognized for the program’s flexibility, quality clinical preparation and commitment to helping working nurses advance their careers.

PracticalNursing.org highlighted Waynesburg’s hybrid program format, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accreditation, early clinical experiences and strong focus on practical skills and critical thinking in diverse healthcare settings. The ranking also noted the program’s design for practicing LPNs seeking further education while balancing professional and personal responsibilities.

“This recognition reflects the dedication of our nursing faculty and the success of our students,” said Dr. Sherry Zak, chair of the Department of Nursing and director of the undergraduate and graduate Nursing program. “Our LPN to BSN Program is intentionally designed to provide licensed practical nurses with a flexible pathway to earning their bachelor’s degree while developing the advanced knowledge and clinical expertise needed to thrive in today’s healthcare environment.”

Waynesburg University’s LPN to BSN Program combines online coursework with in-person clinical experiences, allowing students to build on their previous nursing education while preparing for expanded professional opportunities. Through hands-on learning in the University’s newly enhanced Nursing Clinical Learning Center – including its AI- and VR-powered Immersion Room with advanced patient-care technology – students gain practical experience in realistic healthcare scenarios that strengthen clinical judgment and build confidence before entering the field.
