Waynesburg University’s Music Program will host a flute masterclass with Felipe Jáuregui-Rubio Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 7 p.m. in Benedum 108.
For this flute masterclass, Jáuregui-Rubio will be discussing the history of the instrument along with its use in a variety of different musical styles. Students will also have the opportunity to perform for him and receive feedback.
"Students will work with an international artist who can teach them advanced flute techniques and introduce them to sophisticated musical concepts," Eric Brewer, instructor of music, said.
Columbian flautist Jáuregui-Rubio received his degree in music and artistic studies from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. In 2019, Jáuregui-Rubio completed his master’s degree in Baroque Flute at the University of Music and Dramatic Arts Mozarteum.
Beyond his academic accomplishments, he has participated in several orchestras over the course of his career, including the Liechtenstein Symphony Orchestra, the Southwest German Philharmonic Orchestra of Constance and more.
