As the sun peeks out this May afternoon, I reflect on Waynesburg University Writing Center’s 2022-2023 academic year. The Writing Center doors recently closed for summer break and the students on campus returned home. During the past academic year, we met with students over 1,400 times to go over lab reports, narrative essays, research papers, class presentations and a multitude of other writing assignments from diverse disciplines on campus. Working with you is a privilege and responsibility that we are grateful for and take seriously. Thank you for another great year!
To say that you, the WU community, play a large role in what makes our Writing Center such a success, is an understatement. With highly trained tutors who undergo intensive summer training and professional development experiences, we’re able to be a strong and committed resource on campus. However, without you, we wouldn’t exist. Thank you for visiting the Writing Center, in person, online or through an E-tutor appointment. Thank you for trusting us with your words, ideas and questions.
Over the summer, we will train and equip a new group of tutors with the knowledge necessary to help every student who walks through our doors. In the fall, new and returning tutors will attend professional development meetings so that we are able to compassionately and effectively help each student that walks through our doors. We believe in our mission, and that is to help students find their writing voice through practice, conversation and support. We may be closed for the summer, but we will be here for you again soon, and we cannot wait.
Thank you for visiting the Writing Center this year! We loved meeting you and working with you.
Have a wonderful summer, Waynesburg! We look forward to seeing you in August.
