Welcome Back, Waynesburg!
As the leaves change from green to orange, students gather again on college campuses to begin a new school year. Backpacks are filled with crisp textbooks and there is a feeling of mystery and excitement that floats through the air. The beginning of the semester holds a sense of wonder and the idea that anything is possible.
For more than a year, COVID has changed our learning environments and our interactions with one another. Classes, celebrations, meetings, and social events moved from in-person celebrations to virtual events that took place at a distance. The daily interactions with classmates, professors, friends, and family have been reduced and we are spending more time alone.
This semester, what if we held on to the hope that this is the beginning of a challenging but fulfilling semester? What if we dedicated time to ourselves to create, laugh, learn, study, and replenish? This fall semester is unlike others, as we navigate our path back towards normalcy. We still need to be vigilant and safe when being in public spaces and lead with compassion and empathy towards strangers and friends alike. What if we safely expanded our circles this year to include more creativity, fun, and abundance?
This fall, the Writing Center is proud to announce that it will be offering a free creative writing group for students of all backgrounds. This drop-in based group will meet approximately once a week and will operate like a workshop. Writers of all genres and levels are welcome and we encourage you to check the group out. We’d love to see you!
