Professional Licensure Disclosure by Program

Waynesburg University offers several degree programs that lead to professional licenses and/or certifications. States vary in what professions are required to be licensed/certified, where the license/certification must be obtained, and how licensure functions.

Waynesburg University advises that students review the specific academic requirements for the program in which they are enrolling, including those related to practicum/internship and all pre-qualifications for licensure. We highly recommend that students contact the applicable licensure board(s) in their state of residence, and/or or in the state where they intend to obtain a license to practice, before beginning an academic program that results in licensure. Most licensure boards have additional requirements beyond successful degree completion. Please be advised that state laws, regulations, and policies may change at any time. Changes in requirements can impact the program's ability to meet educational requirements for licensure. It is the responsibility of the student completing the licensure program to check with the licensing board(s) in their state of residence, or in the state in which they intend to obtain a license, for the most recent information and requirements.

Relocation

Students who relocate to a new state during the course of their program should inquire to learn if the change in residency and/or location will impact licensure requirements and/or financial aid funding. If you are considering relocating, or have relocated, please complete the Student Change of Address Form and contact your academic advisor to discuss how this may impact licensure requirements.

Change of Major

Students considering changing their majors into one of the programs that lead to professional licensure and/or certification should also inquire to learn if they reside in a state that will impact licensure requirements and/or financial aid funding. To request a change of major, please complete the Change of Major Form and contact your academic advisor to discuss how this may impact licensure requirements.

The curriculum for programs that may lead to licensure and/or certification at Waynesburg University have been designed to meet the licensure/certification requirements in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and to prepare students to apply for licensure exams in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The licensure boards in each state are responsible for establishing the requirements for licensure/certification for their state. Students who intend to return or move to any state other than the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania need to review the professional licensure disclosures pertaining to their program and consult with their state professional licensing board. State professional licensing boards ultimately determine whether or not an individual will be eligible to sit for licensure based on the rules and regulations in place at the time the individual submits their application.
