Rachel Pellegrino Apr 11, 2022

The Department of Business Administration hosted an award ceremony Monday, April 4, to recognize Sigma Beta Delta inductees and senior honor awardees.

Sigma Beta Delta is an international honor society that recognizes students who have excelled in business, management and administration. Eligible students must rank in the top 20% of the junior, senior or graduate-level class and be invited to membership by the faculty officers.

“Students who are admitted to the society are ones who have demonstrated a commitment to academic excellence and scholarship. These students are ones who embody wisdom, honor and determination,” said Wesley Hershelman, instructor of business administration and president of Waynesburg’s Sigma Beta Delta chapter. “To become a member of this society, each student will pledge to be a life-longer learner and influencer, which will continue to distinguish the student in their personal and professional journeys.”

The following students were inducted into the Sigma Beta Delta Honor Society.

  • Adam Hartnett, senior international business major from McKeesport, Pennsylvania
  • Briston Bennett, senior sports management major from Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania
  • Elyse Morgan, senior entertainment and arts management major from Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania
  • Haley Berry, junior business management major from Waynesburg, Pennsylvania

  • Sarah Brown, junior business management major from Dilliner, Pennsylvania
  • Shayla Rokicki, junior accounting major from Bentleyville, Pennsylvania
  • Tyler Gadd, senior forensic accounting major from Uniontown, Pennsylvania

The following students received departmental honors for having the highest senior class GPAs within their respective departments.

  • Jonathan Baily, senior business management major from Waynesburg, Pennsylvania
  • Robert Redinger, senior finance major from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
  • Jared Hutchinson, senior forensic accounting major from Houston, Pennsylvania
  • Tyler Raines, senior healthcare management major from Elkridge, Maryland
  • Benjamin Ledbetter, senior marketing major from Coraopolis, Pennsylvania
  • Steven Eng, senior sports management major from Elon, North Carolina
  • Emily Petro, senior entertainment and arts management major from Waynesburg, Pennsylvania
  • Sophia Hicks, MBA student from Annapolis, Maryland, who graduated from Waynesburg in December 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in applied business (sales management)

As the new president of Sigma Beta Delta, Hershelman has high hopes for the future of Waynesburg’s Chapter and its students.

“My future plans for the chapter are to challenge all business majors to continue upholding the morals, values and integrity that is required of Sigma Beta Delta. The inducted students should continue to recognize what an honor it is to be a member of Sigma Beta Delta and upcoming students should strive for the opportunity to be inducted,” Hershelman said.
